**Get started without an Anthropic account or API key **

You can send prompts without an Anthropic account or connection in Make using the **Simple Text Prompt **module. Learn more in [modules](docId:5GGRrfiHaN13_rCI7DtxC).
:::

# Requirements

To use the Anthropic Claude app in Make, you must request access to their API at [anthropic.com/earlyaccess](https://www.anthropic.com/earlyaccess). For more information, see the [Anthropic Claude Getting started guide](https://docs.anthropic.com/claude/reference/getting-started-with-the-api).

# Connect Anthropic Claude and Make

To get started, you must first create a connection between Anthropic Claude and Make, allowing the two services to communicate.

To create the connection, you need to:

## Obtain your API key in Anthropic Claude

Before you create the connection in Make, you should first obtain an API key in your Anthropic Claude account.

To obtain the API key:

::::WorkflowBlock
:::WorkflowBlockItem
Log in to your [Anthropic Claude console](https://console.anthropic.com/login).
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem

:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
Click **Close**.
:::
::::

You'll use this value in the **API Key** connection field in Make.

## Create the connection in Make

Once you have your Anthropic Claude API key, you're ready to create the connection in Make.

To create the connection:

::::WorkflowBlock
:::WorkflowBlockItem
Log in to your Make account, add an Anthropic Claude module to your scenario, and click **Create a connection**.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
Optional: In the **Connection name** field, enter a name for the connection.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
In the **API Key** field, enter the API key you copied from your Anthropic Claude account.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
Click **Save**.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
If prompted, authenticate your account and confirm access.
:::
::::

You've successfully created the connection and can now use the Anthropic Claude app in your scenarios. If you want to make changes to your connection in the future, follow the steps [here](https://help.make.com/connect-an-application#tN2pJ).

# Anthropic Claude modules

According to Anthropic's Terms and Conditions for the **Fable **model, data may be stored for a 30-day period, during which time logs can be accessed. [Learn more](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/about-claude/models/introducing-claude-fable-5-and-claude-mythos-5#availability)
:::

:::hint{type="info"}
Anthropic may decline requests that violate their safety policies. Regular charges still apply to declined runs.
:::

You can use the following Anthropic Claude modules to build your scenarios. The **Simple Text Prompt** module requires no setup, while other modules require connecting to the Anthropic Claude app.

::::ExpandableHeading{isOpen="true"}
### Get Started

**Simple Text Prompt**

:::hint{type="info"}
On Free plans and trials, the** Simple text prompt** module supports both the **Claude Haiku 4.5** and **Haiku 5.5**models. A scenario that selects a premium model selects Haiku 5.5 by default. To use other models, upgrade to a paid plan.
:::

The **Simple Text Prompt **module allows you to select a model and enter your prompt, no other setup required.

The module uses credits based on the amount of input and output tokens consumed in each run. Input tokens depend on the prompt you enter, and output tokens are based on the response. After each run, you can see how many tokens were used in the module's output.

The table below shows how input and output tokens for Anthropic Claude models convert to credits:

| **Model name** | **Input tokens per credit** | **Output tokens per credit** |
| -------------------------------- | --------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| Claude Haiku 5.5 (long context)  | 9040                        | 1808                         |
| Claude Haiku 5.5 (short context) | 1808                        | 362                          |
| Claude Opus 5.5                  | 226                         | 45                           |
| Claude Fable 5.1                 | 90                          | 18                           |
| Claude Opus 5                    | 181                         | 36                           |

| Claude Haiku 4.5                 | 904                         | 181                          |

The **Claude Fable 5** model may refuse to answer requests that fall into one of the following categories:

| **Category**           | **What it means**                                                                                                                                                                                                                         |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `cyber` | The request could enable cyber harm, such as malware or exploit development. Benign cybersecurity work can also trigger this category. |
| `bio` | The request could enable biological harm, such as dangerous lab methods. Beneficial life sciences work can also trigger this category. |
| `frontier_llm` | The request could assist the development of competing AI models, which is restricted under [Anthropic's commercial terms](https://www.anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms). Benign machine learning work can also trigger this category. |
| `reasoning_extraction` | The request asks the model to reproduce its internal reasoning in the response text. To get reasoning in a structured form instead, use [adaptive thinking](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/build-with-claude/adaptive-thinking). |
